Feed, Queue & Shelf Workflow

FeedKiwi organizes your content into three main areas. Understanding this workflow is key to using the app effectively.

The Three Areas

Feed

Your Feed is where new content arrives. When you update your feed, FeedKiwi checks all your sources for new items and adds them here. Think of it as your inbox.

What to do here: Review items and decide what to do with each one:

  • Add to Queue — You want to consume this soon
  • Add to Shelf — Save it for later
  • Dismiss — Not interested, remove it

Queue

Your Queue is your daily consumption plan. It contains the items you’ve committed to consuming. Think of it as your to-do list.

What to do here:

  • Consume items (watch, listen, read)
  • Mark items as completed when done
  • Reorder items by priority

Shelf (Backlog)

Your Shelf is for items you want to save but aren’t ready to consume yet. Think of it as your bookshelf.

What to do here:

  • Browse when looking for something to consume
  • Move items to Queue when you’re ready for them
  • Pin important items so they stay at the top

The Daily Flow

A typical day with FeedKiwi looks like this:

  1. Morning: Open the app, update your feed, review new items
  2. Triage: Move interesting items to Queue, save others to Shelf, dismiss the rest
  3. Consume: Work through your Queue throughout the day
  4. Complete: Mark items as completed when done — this tracks your stats and streaks

Pro Tips

  • Keep your Queue small: Aim for 3-5 items per day. A huge queue defeats the purpose.
  • Use the Swipe Deck: On mobile, swipe through feed items quickly to triage.
  • Check your Shelf periodically: Move items to Queue or remove ones you’ll never get to.
