YouTube Channels

YouTube channels are one of the most popular source types in FeedKiwi. Instead of relying on YouTube’s algorithm, you see exactly what your subscribed channels publish.

Adding a YouTube Channel

1. Go to Sources > Add Source
2. Select YouTube as the type
3. Paste the channel URL in any of these formats:
   • https://www.youtube.com/@channelname
   • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxxxxxxxx
   • https://www.youtube.com/c/channelname
4. FeedKiwi will resolve the channel and start fetching videos

What Gets Imported

• Regular videos — Standard uploads from the channel
• Shorts/Reels — Short-form content (tagged as “reel” content type)

FeedKiwi fetches the most recent videos when you first add a channel, then checks for new uploads each time you update your feed.

YouTube-Specific Features

Playback Speed

Set a default YouTube playback speed in Settings > Display & Playback. FeedKiwi will show adjusted durations in your feed (e.g., a 20-minute video at 2x shows as 10 min).

Provocative Content Filtering

FeedKiwi can flag potentially provocative or clickbait content from YouTube. Enable this in Settings to see warnings on items flagged by AI analysis. You can exempt specific channels from this check.

YouTube OAuth Connection

For enhanced features, you can connect your YouTube account via OAuth:

1. Go to Settings
2. Click Connect YouTube Account
3. Authorize FeedKiwi to read your subscriptions

This allows FeedKiwi to import your existing YouTube subscriptions as sources.

Tips

• Use tags to categorize channels (e.g., “education”, “gaming”, “news”)
• Star channels whose videos you always want to watch — starred items can auto-add to your Queue
• Mute channels temporarily without unsubscribing to pause their items from appearing
